Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most popular international grape varieties.

Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most widespread international red grape varieties. As the name suggests, the vine is of French origin (Bordelais) and spread all over the world. According to traffic lightographs, Cabernet Sauvignon is the result of the crossing of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Blanc.

Cabernet Sauvignon is mainly cultivated in Europe, South Africa, Australia, South America and California.

In ancient times this grape variety was called “Petit Vidure” (hard life) and was already widespread in the region of Bordeaux in the seventeenth century. Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most renowned vines for red wine production and of high quality and longevity. The vine adapts easily to different climatic conditions and cellar techniques, while retaining the typical character of Cabernet.

Cabernet Sauvignon wines have an intense dark red colour, are rich in tannins and aromas and are ideal for long ageing.

The grape variety is of a strong, upright growth and the buds sprout late. The leaves are medium in size, as well as the bunches of grapes with small and medium, spherical, blue violet berries. The wines of Cabernet Sauvignon are full-bodied and relatively dry due to the high tannin content. One can feel the aroma of black currants, but also liquorice, cedar and vanilla nuances occur. The colour of the wine is ruby red with violet reflections.
