Cantabria is a small region in the north of Spain between the Cantabrian mountains and the Gulf of Biscay. The landscape is diverse from white sandy beaches, green hills and snow covered mountains in the interior. For many years wine growing had not played a big role here, but a few years ago it started to expand. Currently, there are two IGP-zones, Costa de Cantabria and Liebana.
The main varieties are Hondarrabi Zuri, Hondarrabi Belza, Alfrocheiro Preto, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Picapol.
